This Year’s Calendar

Loading

On the auspicious occasion of World Chocolate Cake Day (Jan 27th) and in belated celebration of World Laughter day on January 10th, SiyaWoman invites you to write something fun and light-hearted about the more funny and quirky ‘days’ in the calendar.

How are you going to celebrate World Marriage Day on the second Sunday of February? Or World Population Day on July 11th? In the same way as Valentine’s Day, perhaps? (Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.) Will you give your secretary a day off on April 21st? What is one to do if you don’t have a secretary? How many selfies do you plan to take on August 19th (World Photography Day) and will you finally look away from that damn smartphone on the ‘International Day of the Family’ on May 12?

So much going on and so few days of the year!

Do let us know if you agree with the concept of ‘days’ at all. Or if you think that having a ‘day’ is a good way to recognize a neglected, disenfranchised group. Give us your funny takes on how to celebrate a weird day. Given the power, which day would you create?

Looking forward to your writing in on this topic. Write in to contact@siyawoman.com, and we shall feature it as the Editor’s pick on the day concerned. Please stay within 700 words and adhere to our rules and regulations.

I have been unwittingly celebrating World Chocolate Cake Day (birthday in the family) since yesterday, and am thrilled to continue to do so until I run out of supplies. Let me get back to that.
